Internet Safety




Standards:


8.1. All students will use digital tools to access, manage, evaluate, and synthesize information in order to solve problems individually and collaboratively to create and communicate knowledge.

Strand A - Technology and Operations

CPI - 8.1.8.A5 - Select appropriate tools and digital resources to accomplish a variety of tasks and to solve problems.
CPI - 8.1.8.D1 - Demonstrate how information may be biased by creating a multimedia presenation based on research on a controversial issue.



Objective:


  1. Identify safety, privacy and security concerns on the internet.
  2. Become aware of appropriate online manners, the seriousness of cyberbullying, and ethics.
  3. Understand the good and bad of social networking.



Activities

  1. Cybersmart Activities
  2. View Netsmartz videos and activities
  3. Watch video clips on internet safety
  4. Students will create a multimedia presentation on internet safety
  5. Students will create a brochure on Internet Safety for other students.
  6. Students can record a podcast on the topic (one topic per group of students.
  7. Create a digital story on a topic and share with other students in our school or in other schools.
  8. Create a wiki of information related to the topic to share with other students.
  9. Develop a web page on the topic to share.
  10. Create a glog on glogster
  11. Create an animoto digital story.
  12. Create a voicethread.
  13. Create a podcast on an internet safety topic.
